Halloween Fun at the Farm Park - Some of our gruesome staff!

All week we have been dressed up in our Halloween attire!  The farm park has its very own Halloween grotto with flying bats and spiders, a laughing broomstick, a ghost that makes you jump out of your skin and our very attractive live size witch.
We went to Spalding in Lincolnshire to buy our pumpkins where in the region of 5 million are grown each year and drove slowly back up the motorway with our trailer load, praying for not a drop of rain!

Is it really warm enough to not need your coat?

Today was the first day of our 'clipping demonstration' which Paul is doing for us.

Over the next two days he will be showing people the art of clipping sheep.

He is happy to answer any questions about our sheep.

Playtime!

These are just three of Judy's piglets playing.
We let them out during the day, usually with a tennis ball to hand.

Judy and her Offspring

Finally we have a picture of Judy and her piglets.  It has taken so long due to us never been able to catch her in a decent photographic position!
These seven pglets were born four weeks ago.
If you look closely you will see 'Ruby', the tiny runt of the litter - she is laid very close to Judy's leg.

Our tortoise - Samson has a passenger!

One of our visitors having fun with Samson and his toy.

Any sandwiches left?

This duck was rescued by a lady in Halton East, she was only a few days old and was stuck down a drain.
It is lovely to see her with her own 14 ducklings either swimming on the pond or eating the remains of our visitor's sandwiches.

This is Judy our very pregnant Kune Kune pig.  She is due to farrow any day - we have been watching her very closely thinking today must be the day - but not yet!
This is one of  her quieter moments, usually she can be seen restlessly trailing around her pen.
We will let you know when we have tiny trotters!

One of today's new arrivals.

This pair of beltex lambs were just born this afternoon luckily for one lady who had stood nearly all day waiting for them to appear!

Samson and Delilah

These are our two new tortoises that have been with us for 4 weeks and as you can see have settled in very nicely.

Do you think I'm handsome?

This is Peter our very handsome peacock who is flirting with the female pea hens.  As you can see the male peacocks are very beautiful when they open their feathers up.
He is trying to impress them with the mating season approaching.
Having a good stretch!

Spring is arriving on the farm

We have a few new spring lambs that are now strong enough to be outside.  Many more of our sheep are now housed in the sheep house and are due to start lambing in another 3 weeks.
